Project Overview
This project transformed a Fortune 100 company’s new corporate headquarters into a secure, modern workspace. From conference rooms to corner offices and everywhere in between, the building is protected against ballistic threats while maintaining an open-concept feel.
Challenge
The new construction project required a security strategy that could strengthen the building against ballistic threats without compromising its bright, open layout. Key areas—including exterior windows, private offices, and conference rooms—needed protection while preserving the modern, spacious aesthetic.
Additionally, the design team faced the challenge of creating enclosed office and meeting spaces that remained visually connected to the larger workspace, avoiding a closed-off or restrictive environment.
Solution
To meet the project’s ballistic performance requirements, exterior windows were permanently backglazed using 44/250 framing and SP 1.25 acrylic glazing. This configuration delivers UL 752 Level 3 bullet resistance while maintaining a clean, unobtrusive appearance aligned with the building’s contemporary design.
For interior spaces, a line of offices and conference rooms was strategically positioned along the back wall to preserve openness while introducing functional separation.
These areas were secured with bullet-resistant storefront systems featuring 44/450 framing, 44/350 doors, and SP 1.25 acrylic glazing. This system allows the spaces to function as everyday work environments while also serving as protective shelter areas during emergency situations—all without sacrificing visibility or design continuity.
Results
By seamlessly integrating bullet-resistant glazing and framing systems into the architectural design, the project successfully balances safety and aesthetics. The result is a secure yet welcoming corporate environment that supports employee safety, maintains clear sightlines, and upholds the client’s modern design vision.
