Storm-Ready Campground Clubhouse
Project Overview
Insulgard was specified on a two-level clubhouse project at a popular RV resort and campground in Southwest Michigan. Designed to host meetings, a library, and year-round events, the building also serves a critical purpose: providing a safe, code-compliant storm shelter for all campers during severe weather.

Challenge
The project required a delicate balance between stringent storm shelter performance and an inviting, open design that capitalized on the property’s scenic lakeside location. The project team aimed to create a secure, hardened space without sacrificing natural light or obstructing the panoramic views that define the campground experience.
Solution
Insulgard provided high-performance glazing systems engineered to meet the 2014 FEMA P-361 guidelines and 2015 ICC-500 storm shelter standards, ensuring reliable protection without compromising aesthetics.
- TTH350 doors glazed with TG30
- TTH600 framing systems glazed with TG30 IG
Finished in dark bronze, these systems seamlessly integrate with the building’s design while delivering the strength required for storm-resistant construction. The glazing allows for expansive sightlines and increased daylight penetration, transforming the shelter into a bright, welcoming environment.
Results
The completed clubhouse successfully merges safety and design, functioning as both a community hub and a reliable storm shelter. The space supports meetings, events, and daily use while standing ready to protect occupants during severe weather. The result is a structure that enhances both the safety infrastructure and overall experience of the campground.
