Project Overview
A national pharmacy chain launched a small-format pharmacy concept designed to prioritize personal interaction and elevate the in-store customer experience. These locations focus on delivering essential pharmacy services, including prescription fulfillment, immunizations, and medication support, alongside a curated selection of over-the-counter health and wellness products.
Challenge
To support this new model, the client needed to meet strict pharmacy security regulations requiring layered protection to prevent theft, diversion, and unauthorized access to controlled substances and sensitive patient data—all without compromising the open, customer-focused environment.
The client’s leadership team had a clear vision: to create an open and welcoming space that prioritizes customer interaction while ensuring employee safety and regulatory compliance.
Traditional counterline barrier systems, like those commonly seen in banking environments, were not an option. Leadership felt these solutions appeared too closed off and would detract from the desired customer experience.

Insulgard delivered a custom counterline barrier system that seamlessly integrates security into the store design, protecting staff and restricted areas while maintaining a welcoming, accessible experience for customers.
Featuring sliding bullet-resistant windows and package passer ports, the system was engineered to:

All barrier components were fabricated in-house by Insulgard’s skilled craftsmen, ensuring quality control and precise alignment with project specifications.
